About BootShapes
After being laid off in June 2026 from a job I had for over five years, with a baby on the way just two weeks later, I had to get it together and put my energy into something I’ve genuinely always enjoyed. On the same day as that layoff, on top of filling out dozens of job applications, I also started drafting what has now become this tool.
Why did I build it?
Like many of the people here, I grew up with the beautiful game and, over time, ended up owning far more boots than I ever needed. For so many of us, we’re always chasing that feeling of the perfect fit — whether it’s a boot that wraps your foot like it was custom-made for you or one that gives you the confidence that comes with wearing the latest technology. The collecting, trying, and testing never really stops.
The frustrating part of owning so many boots always came down to one thing: the fit. A pair could have all the technology in the world, but the second something felt off or it didn’t hug my foot the way I wanted it to, it was either getting returned or ending up on eBay. I wanted to build something that could help people like me chase that perfect fit again by comparing the boots we already own, the boots we’re interested in, and even our own foot shapes instead of just buying blindly and hoping for the best.
The focus here is fit. I think a lot of boot nerds would agree that a simple, comfortable boot that wraps your foot properly will always be better than the latest and greatest pair that doesn’t fit you right. But ideally, you shouldn’t have to choose. That’s what this tool is for, the boot nerd who can’t stop checking out every new boot that comes out, and the one who’s just looking for a new pair that fits.
I also break down boot fits and share what I’m learning over on the BootShapes YouTube channel — a companion to this site. Come say hi.
