Learn my foot
Most fit problems come from not knowing your own foot. This short guide explains everything you need, then you can build your profile and compare boots.

Why your size label isn't enough
A “US 10” from one brand can feel nothing like a 10 from another. Length is just one number. The shape and volume of the boot decide how it actually feels.
BootShapes helps you describe your foot by shape and feel. Answer as you go and we'll build your profile automatically.
The nine toe shapes
Your toe shape decides where a boot needs to be roomiest. Open yours for what to look for, what to avoid, and the boots that suit it.
- EgyptianBig toe is the longest; toes taper down in a clean diagonal line.
- GreekSecond toe is longest, sitting just ahead of the big toe.
- RomanFirst three toes are nearly the same length, then a quick drop.
- GermanicBig toe stands tall; the other four are short and level.
- CelticLong big and second toes, with a distinct dip after them.
- AsianRounded, even front with a fuller, slightly wider forefoot.
- MongolianStrong big toe and little toe, with a slightly scooped middle.
- NorwegianBig toe leads with a long second toe and a fuller overall foot.
- StretchedLong, slim toes with noticeable spacing between them.
How to measure at home
0/7 doneCommon fit mistakes
Trusting the size label alone
Labels vary between brands and even models. Use shape and fit behavior, not just the number.
Buying boots a full size too small for a 'snug' feel
A snug fit comes from the right shape, not a smaller size. Too small causes toe and nail pressure.
Only checking length, never width
Most fit pain is width and volume, not length. Check across the ball of your foot.
Thinking you have a wide foot when you likely don't
True wide feet are less common than most people assume. To check, trace your foot standing up, measure straight across the widest part of the ball, then compare that to your foot length (heel to longest toe). Measure precisely does the math for you and says whether you're actually narrow, average, or wide.
Judging fit sitting down
Always stand and walk. Your foot lengthens and spreads under load.
Ignoring the toe shape
A pointed boot can crowd a long second toe even in the 'right' size. Match the toe box to your shape.
Expecting zero break-in
Leather molds over a few sessions. Don't size up just because day one feels firm.
