Foot shape 9 of 9

Stretched foot shape

A stretched foot has long, slim toes that extend well forward with visible gaps between them. Of the nine shapes it asks for the least width and the most length, which makes it one of the easier feet to fit — as long as you stop trying to solve it with a wider boot.

How to tell if you have a Stretched foot

  • Your toes are noticeably long relative to the rest of your foot.
  • There is visible space between the toes when you stand.
  • Boots feel cramped at the very front while the ball of your foot feels fine.

What to look for in a boot

  • Length above all, particularly toe-box length rather than overall size.
  • Narrow and standard lasts, which hold a slim forefoot properly.
  • Toe boxes that stay reasonably deep to the tip instead of collapsing early.

What to avoid

  • Wide or accommodating lasts, which leave a slim forefoot sliding around inside the boot.
  • Short toe boxes, which this shape fills faster than any other.
  • Treating front-of-boot pressure as a width problem — here it is almost always length.

Sizing a Stretched foot

Size for the toes, not the ball of the foot. A stretched foot commonly needs the length of a bigger size without any of its extra width.

Stretched foot — common questions

What is a stretched foot shape?
A stretched foot has long, slim toes with noticeable spacing between them. It reaches further forward than most shapes while needing less width, so length is the main fit constraint.
What football boots are best for a stretched foot?
Narrow or standard lasts with a long toe box that stays deep to the tip. Wide boots are usually the wrong answer — they add room where this shape does not need it and leave the forefoot unsupported.
Do long toes mean I have wide feet?
No. Toe length and forefoot width are independent. A stretched foot is typically slim across the ball, which is why wide-fit boots often feel loose and unstable on it.
